UK Cartoon Network Mistakenly Airs Bookmaker Ad

The Cartoon Network made a huge faux pas recently when it mistakenly aired an ad for UK bookmaker Coral during a broadcast on the children’s television channel despite strict rules that govern the airing of gambling ads on television.

The controversial ad had been aired on Turner Broadcasting’s Boomerang channel as well as the Cartoon system, sparking outrage as the broadcast code strictly prohibits the marketing of gambling ‘in or next to programs commissioned for, principally fond of, or more likely to appeal particularly to audiences underneath the age of 18 years,’ therefore heads were positively tumbling when the broadcast clearly broke these guidelines.
